DevOps Infrastructure Engineer Job Description

Senior DevOps Engineer who can be responsible for building, implementing and supporting DevOps echosystem components, including architecture, updates, upgrades, identifying production issues, and implementing integrations that meet business requirements. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in DevOps infrastructure engineering and legacy system infrastructure, and will work with developers and other engineers to ensure that software development follows established processes and works as intended as supplying highly available, reliable and resilliant containerization platform. The DevOps Engineer will also help plan projects and be involved in project management decisions.

Objectives of this role

• Designing, building, implementing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform,
• Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying them to the stakeholders,
• Working on ways to automate and improve infrastructure of DevOps Platform,
• Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results,
• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats,
• Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes,
• Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that,
• Development follows established processes and works as intended,
• Planning projects and being involved in project management decisions.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure and Platform Management of DevOps Tools
• Design, build, deploy/implement major releases and updates/fixes of the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and provide Level 2 technical support for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
• Manage, fix and update Docker, Portworx Software Defined Storage, Red Hat Advanced Security System, Red Hat Quay Registry, Kafka Kubernetes Backup, ETCD kay value storages,
• Develop scripts to automate the processes,
• Perform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issues,
• Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.

Required skills and qualifications

• Experience as a DevOps Engineer on Red Hat OpenShift,
• Proficiency with Kubernetes native Software Defined Storage systems like, Portworx Kubernetes Storage, Red Hat ODF, NSF, Object Based Storage etc.,
• Proficiency with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS,
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows and Docker,
• Problem-solving attitude,
• Collaborative team spirit,

 Preferred skills and qualifications

• Bachelor of science degree (or equivalent) in computer/electronics engineering, or relevant field,
• Experience in Elastic, MS Azure DevOps, Redis and/or Message Broker Systems like ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, IBM Websphere MQ, Kafka, etc.
• Experience in Legacy Infrastructure Systems like hypervisor, compute, storage and other operating systems,
• Experience in banking/financial sector,
• Experience in engineering infrastructure platforms for a large company,
• Experience and knowledge in ITIL/COBIT.
