Purpose of the job:

Gas & Electricity Trading and Operations Senior Analyst will be mainly responsible for:

• Managing day-to-day energy operations of natural gas and power purchase contracts, and solar energy produced internally

• Implementing natural gas and power purchase strategies

• Helping define the energy purchase strategies of management

• Developing necessary models, reports, analyses and fact base to help optimize the profitability and manage the commercial risk of overall energy portfolio

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all relations and data flow with gas and power suppliers, TSO (transmission system operator), DSO (distribution system operator) and market operator in power and gas.

• Execute regular reconciliation of gas and power purchases and captive power production, in coordination with relevant internal departments

• Take a leading role in the origination of gas and power products and services, including execution of regular or ad-hoc responsibilities related with gas and power sourcing, contract negotiation and contract management. Coordinate with the CNG/LNG operational and sales teams, in order to ensure consistency between the portfolio monitoring tool, updated forecasts, updated developments and its application on operational level.

• Develop complex models/tools and conduct portfolio management analyses for gas supply and trade by working in close cooperation with sales team, CNG/LNG operations team and risk team, to support relevant management decisions by simulating the detailed emergent effects of any commercial decision on the overall portfolio.

• Develop and execute methodologies and tools to be used for forecasting prevalent market trends and prices.

• Complete all aspects of monthly portfolio Profit/Loss review including the ability to drill down on every cost and revenue. Suggest strategies to optimize the profitability and risk of the portfolio. Perform detailed variance analysis on a regular basis.

• Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports and analyses for the management, external parties as well as internal stakeholders, covering monthly activities and showing KPI’s.

• Help conduct feasibility analysis for business development activities and new projects within the domain of power and gas trading and origination, including preparation of related presentations/reports to be submitted for the approval of company management.

General Qualifications:

• Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze data and create models using complex software capabilities.

• Good level of IT competency, advanced knowledge of Excel tools. VBA, analytical & statistical tools is a plus

• Well-developed and professional communication skills - ability to communicate quickly, effectively and in a constructive manner

• Strong contributor to team spirit as cooperator and proactive thinker

• Ability to analyze problems and identify appropriate and effective solutions under time pressure and support managerial decision making

• Strong intellectual capacity – able to deal with complex market arrangements

• Advanced reporting skills

• Extensive knowledge of the Turkish Energy market, both in gas and power, and its relevant regulations.

• Fluent in Turkish and English

Experience:

• At least 5 years’ experience in operations and analytical roles in Turkish energy market

Qualifications:

• Minimum a bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline from a reputable university.

Key relationships:

Gas & Electricity and Operations Senior Analyst will report to Gas Trading and Business Development Director. The role will be in close contact with external and internal stakeholders across functional boundaries. Key relationships are as follows:
