QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for “Sommelier” for Bagatelle Bodrum Restaurant. 

The Sommelier oversees the outlet's wine operations. He/She supervises the performance and training of the subordinates in beverage operations i.e. sommelier personnel. He/She consults customers on wine selection He/She monitors customer satisfaction and organises wine tasting. He/She monitors beverage costs and performs inventory control.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintain an updated list of wines that complement our food selection.
  • Collaborate with Chefs and Bar Manger when making selections.
  • Create food and wine pairings for each of our seasonal menus.
  • Oversee the serving and storage of wine and training the wait staff on the wine selection.
  • Make sure wines are served in the correct glassware and at the proper temperature.
  • Organize one wine-tasting event each month.
  • Make sure all guests served wine are of proper age.
  • Follow all safety and health regulations.
  • Order taking & beverage service
  • Execution of end of service operations (storage, preparation for the next service, ...)
  • Receipt and control of deliveries
  • Design & update the wine list and other drinks
  • Organization of the wine cellar
  • Sales analysis against inventory / demands
  • Set up of the daily needs
  • Make the client understand his function and his role as a specialist
  • Assist in Welcoming Guests
  • Share our knowledge in the field of oenology 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years Sommelier-related experience. 
  • Beverage managerial experience, preferably in an upscale hotel or cruise ship, restaurant, or high volume food service facility.
  • Experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role
  • Ability to create tasteful food and wine pairings
  • Extensive knowledge of different wines and which regions produce each type
  • Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries
  • Understanding of the winemaking process
  • Strong interpersonel and sales skills
  • Availability to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally to meet with wine producers and visit wine-tasting events
  • Certification as a Sommelier or degree in hospitality is a plus

Preferred Candidate

More than 5 years of experience
Associate Degree(Graduate), Bachelor’s(Student), Bachelor’s(Graduate)
English(Reading : Advanced, Writing : Advanced, Speaking : Advanced)
